Why your drain smells

A standard floor drain is an open pipe. Sewer gas rises through it, and nothing stops it. That is the smell in your bathroom on a warm day, and it is also how drain flies get in.

This insert closes that opening with a one-way valve. Water pushes it open when you shower. The moment the flow stops, it seals shut — so gas, odor and insects stay in the pipe instead of in your room.

How to install — under 5 minutes

1. Lift out the old grate. Most shower grates simply pull up. No tools needed on standard pop-in covers.
2. Drop the valve in. Push it into the drain opening until the silicone ring seats flush. If your drain is larger, fit one of the supplied reducer rings first.
3. Replace the grate and shower. Check that water drains freely and the flap closes when the water stops.

Will it fit your drain?

It is designed for standard round shower drains with an inner opening between roughly 35 mm and 45 mm (1.4–1.8 in). The two silicone reducer rings cover the smaller and larger ends of that range. If your drain is square, or the opening is outside that range, measure before ordering — the valve is round and seats on the circular opening.

Frequently asked questions

Will it slow down drainage?

No. The valve opens fully under the weight of flowing water, so normal shower flow passes straight through. It only closes when the flow stops.

Do I need to remove the old drain body?

No. This is an insert, not a replacement drain. It drops into the existing opening.

How often does it need cleaning?

Lift the grate and rinse the hair basket every few weeks. The valve itself needs no maintenance.
